The Publication of "The Spirit and the Soul" by Professor Seyyed Mohammed Khamenei
In this book, relying on the concepts of “the sprit and the soul” in the Qur’an and hadith, the writer inquires into a historical conflict in this regard between theologians and muhaddithin. The first chapter of the book provides a short history of the issue of the spirit and the soul in the early days of Islam. In the next chapters, the concept of “spirit” is analyzed in fields of philosophy, theology, gnosis, and the Transcendent Philosophy. Finally, the writer tries to propound the above two concepts from the viewpoints of Shaykh Mufid, the well-known Shi’i theologians and jurisprudent (living about 1000 years ago) and Mulla Sadra (living about 400 years ago).
