The normal annual general assembly of the Scientific Society of History of Philosophy was held on 6 August 2015 at 16.30 in the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Research Institute. The call notice had been previously published in Resalat Newspaper on 21 July 2015, and attendance invitations had been sent to the members of the Society. The Assembly inaugurated by reciting some verses from the holy Qur’an and a welcome speech by the Society’s Secretary. Then he provided a report of the Society’s performance in the previous year and the outlook of the present and coming years. Next, in line with the agenda which had been previously conveyed to the members, they discussed certain topics, and the following were approved by them:

  1. The membership of those members who are absent from the assembly meetings between 3-5 times (given their academic status) with no plausible excuse will be cancelled. The task of decision making concerning the examples and applications of this Act was given over to the Board of Directors.

  2. Given the limited financial resources of the society, it was decided that, in the given time, it concentrates on accomplishing the Project of Compiling the History of Philosophy, publishing the scientific-research quarterly of the Society, and holding the related meetings. At the same time, the Board of Directors was given the permission to program for other activities in case of the provision of new financial sources.

  3. In order to publish the notices of the Society, Resalat and Ettela’at were chosen as the main and the substitute newspapers, respectively. This Act will be valid until the end of the activity cycle of the present Board of Directors.

During the rest of the program, following the series of the specialized meetings of the Society, a meeting on the theme of the “Magi” was held. The speaker was Dr. Qa’im Magami, Professor at Tehran University. This speech focused on the process of philosophical thinking in ancient Iran and its effects on Greek philosophy and the history of philosophy. At the end, the attending professors posed their questions and advanced their criticisms regarding the propounded subjects and discussed their points. The general assembly and the 21st specialized meeting of the Society were closed at 20.00 pm.
