
The Third Specialized Meeting of the “History of Philosophy” was Held by the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute

Following the seminars and meetings hosting researchers, the third specialized-scientific meeting of the “History of Philosophy” was held by the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute, which hosted selected members of the Scientific Board of the four groups of the Center for Compiling A Comprehensive History of Wisdom and Philosophy.
About one hundred prominent masters of philosophy, archeology, history, and linguistic departments of some of the universities in Tehran, the seminary and universities of Qum, and some non-Iranian scholars and researchers participated in this meeting.
Ayatullah Seyyed Muhammed Khamenei, the President of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute, as well as Dr.Kalbasi, Dr.Muhammed Taqi Rashed Muhassil, Dr. Muhammed Ilkhani, Dr. Ali Bigdeli, Dr. Hikmatullah Mulla Salihi, Hujjatullah Dr. Hasan Mu′allimi, Dr. Manuchehr Sani′i Darrebidi, Dr. Jaleh Amuzgar, and Dr. Janet Blake, who are the members of the Scientific Board of the “Center for Compiling A Comprehensive History of Wisdom and Philosophy”, presented lectures on the subjects related to the project.
The President of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute said, “The series of the meetings of the “Center for Compiling A Comprehensive History of Wisdom and Philosophy”, affiliated to this Institute, are held with the purpose of establishing an association for exchanging ideas and thoughts among the professors and scholars of the various disciplines in relation to the Project of Compiling A Comprehensive History of Philosophy and Wisdom and enhancing this important and forgotten task. This is considered an interdisciplinary meeting. Such Meetings and seminars are rarely witnessed in our country.”
At the end, he reminded the participants, “The members of the Scientific Board and researchers of this Institute have even created some relationships with other countries such as China, Russia, countries of the Balkan region and countries in South-east Asia in order to find the roots of the history of wisdom and philosophy in the world. The Institute's intention is to compile a comprehensive work in this regard, unpolluted by any kind of prejudice and bias in terms of history and philosophy, and to determine the real share of each nation and ethnic group in this regard.
From among the topics presented in the speeches we can refer to "The Whatness of the History of Philosophy", "Introducing the Philosophical-Theological Texts of Ancient Iran", "A Reference to Technical Philosophical and Theological Terms in Pahlawi Texts", "The Innovations of Islamic Philosophy in Comparison to Greek Philosophy", and "Social and Cultural Perspectives in Ancient Greece".
It is necessary to point out that the speeches of professors were delivered during two programs. At the end of each program, some time was allocated to scientific dialog and discussion, during which the researchers and scholars of various disciplines freely exchanged their thoughts and ideas.
According to the President of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute, these scientific and research-oriented meetings will continue in the future, and the speeches will be printed and published.
