Si asl treatise
This treatise is Mulla Sadra's response to all the shortsighted and superficial people who in the name of science and religion show enmity towards wisdom and gnosis. Mulla Sadra wrote this treatise on mystic wayfaring, moral perfection, discovery of true sciences, and the obstacles on the wayfarer's way towards attaining the truth.
According to the writer, the obstacles and veils that deprive most people of acquiring knowledge are derived from three principles. That is why he has called this treatise "Si asl" (Three Principles). These principles are as follows:
First principle: Ignorance of the knowledge of the soul, which is the truth of humanity.
Second principle: Love of glory and wealth and following one's passions, desires, and pleasures.
Third principle: Temptations of the despotic soul and the tricks of the deceitful and malevolent Satan, who shows bad as good, and good as bad.
This treatise is the only prose work that Mulla Sadra has written in Persian.
Si asl treatise has been published with edition, research, and Introduction by Dr. Seyyed Hussein Nasr, along with the index of cited verses, hadiths, names, poems, etc., in 212 pages by the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute.
