The first volume of the book Memoirs of Ayatullah Seyyed Mohammed Khamenei was published by the Iranian Culture and Art Institute and the Islamic Revolution Document Center in spring 2013. This volume consists of six chapters in 550 pages. Each chapter narrates a part of Ayatullah Khamenei’s memoirs from his birth until the victory of the Islamic Revolution from his own tongue. A small part of this volume is devoted to his post-revolution memoirs. The second volume of his memoirs is also being prepared and will be published in the near future.

The table of contents of this book includes the following titles: Preface, Narrator’s Word, The Struggle for Knowing, In the Search of Religious Identity and its Revival, Dynamism in the Pure Flow of the Movement, The Dark and Light of Battle, Being and Subsisting, Rhythm of Being, Calendar, Documents and Images, Bibliography, and Index.

This book is the product of 50 hours of interview of the Islamic Revolution Document Center with Ayatullah Seyyed Mohammed Khamenei. However, what adds to the newness and vitality of this book is the first person point of view in the narration of the events. Here, Professor Khamenei tells the story of his fruitful but turbulent life in his own absorbing and fluent words.

Ayatullah Seyyed Mohammed Khamenei is one of the most influential characters in cultural, political, and patriotic fields. His character enjoys various dimensions that can be classified into three categories: the patriotic dimension before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the political dimension after the Islamic Revolution, and the scientific-cultural dimension during the last two decades. His patriotic dimension has been explained in a more distinct manner in this book. This is because, during the fight against the Pahlavi King, he was one of the influential figures beside the Supreme Leader of the country and Imam Khomeini. Two hundred pages of this unique book include the narrator’s memoirs of his childhood, young adolescence, and youth. Here, he portrays the background of the Hosseini Khamenei family. This work narrates the life of this family for the first time from the tongue of one of its members. We can even say that the first 200 pages of this book cover the common memoirs of the Supreme Leader of Iran and Ayatullah Seyyed Mohammed Khamenei.

The other parts of the book include Ayatullah Khamenei’s memoirs of his period of presence in Mashad and his political activities in Qum and Tehran. At the end of this work, some documents and pictures of Professor Khamenei are presented which are unique in their own type and have been published for the public for the first time. Moreover, the narrator’s beautiful tone of words and his absorbing and eloquent language attract readers to the extent that they cannot put the book down before it ends. All the different chapters of this book are documented and have been written in harmony with each other. Besides, it has been tried to present the data through relying on the most valid and authentic historical sources. This work was presented to the market in the 26th International Book Fair in Tehran. It was also displayed for the first time in the Annual Conference on Commemorating Mulla Sadra on 22nd May during a special ceremony.
