The book Concept of Substance in Contemporary Analytic Metaphysics, written by Reza Mahuzi, has been recently published by the Publication Center of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute. It intends to introduce the different contemporary schools of analytic metaphysics and, after analyzing and pinpointing the weak points and strengths of each, present a substitute approach for clarifying ontological structure. The word substance in contemporary analytic metaphysics refers to corporeal substance and not substance in the sense of spirit and the soul. Therefore, today analytic philosophers explore the problem of spirit as a mental issue. This book merely focuses on a study of corporeal substance and does not touch spiritual substance. It is necessary to mention that the analyses here deal with two groups of general and particular theories.
